Romero Federico S. Quimbo

Miro became, at the age of 32, the youngest-ever President and CEO of the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF), also known as the Pag-IBIG Fund. Before joining Pag-IBIG, he was President and Managing Director of Pinoymail.com, and was a lawyer at Poblador, Bautista and Reyes Law. Miro is also the President of the Philippine Social Security Association, which is composed of the government agencies GSIS, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, AFPSLAI, ECC and PCSO. He received the Ten Outstanding Young Men award for government service in 2006. Previously, Miro helped establish FIABC-Philippines, an internationally-affiliated association of real estate developers, and worked at the House of Representatives while he was still in law school. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a BA in History from the University of the Philippines. |

Rufo B. Colayco

Rufo wasnominated to the Kabuhayan Fund’s Board by ATR KimEng Capital Partners, Inc. He wasformerly President and CEO of the Bases Conversion Development Authority, Clark Development Corp. and Clark International Airport Corp.; and he was a co-founder and director of private equity firm Argosy Partners, Inc. Prior to this, Rufo served as CEO of the Kuok Group of Companies in the Philippines and was a Director at Kerry Trading Co., Ltd., in Hong Kong. Earlier, he held a number of management positions at SyCip Gorres Velayo / Arthur Andersen; United Brands (based in Boston); Engineering Equipment, Inc.; and Procter & Gamble Philippines.His other past positions include: Chairman of the ASEAN-Japan Economic Council’s ASEAN Section; Governor of the Management Association of the Philippines; and President of the Harvard Business School Association of the Philippines. Rufo earned a BA in History from the Ateneo de Manila, and an MBA from Harvard Business

Rosito C. Manhit

Chito is the Secretary and Administrator of the PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund. He is also Managing Partner at the Ongkiko, Kalaw, Manhit & Acorda Law Offices; and a Director at Filcredit Finance and Capital Development Corp.; Mediaquest Holdings, Inc.; and Bancholders, Inc. Chito had earlier been a Senior Partner at Alampay & Manhit Law, and had worked for many years with Engineering Equipment, Inc. and Security Bank and Trust Co. He previously served as a Director at: Philippine Growth Fund; Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.; Development Bank of the Philippines; Traders Royal Bank;Royal Savings Bank; and Security Diners International Card. Chito earned a BS in Commerce at Jose Rizal University, a Bachelor of Laws at the Lyceum of the Philippines, and an MBA at the Ateneo de Manila. He is a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. |
Ma. Elena S. Sarmiento

Marilen is a First Senior Vice-President and Trust Officer at Philippine National Bank. Prior to her appointment at PNB, she was connected with various banks and financial institutions, including United Coconut Planters Bank, Union Bank and Bancom Development Corp. Marilenis a past President of the Trust Officers Association of the Philippines, and is currently a member of its Board of Directors. She has also been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Trust Institute Foundation of the Philippines for the past 7 years. Marilen graduated from the College of the Holy Spirit with a BS in Commerce, major in Accounting (magna cum laude), and is a Certified Public Accountant. She earned Masteral units in Business Administration at the De La Salle Graduate School of Business, and completed the American Bankers Association’s Trust Course at the National Trust School of Northwestern University. |

Danny is a Senior Vice President at the Manila Electric Co., Inc. (Meralco) and a Trustee of the Meralco Pension Fund. He also serves as a Director of Corporate Information Solutions, Inc.; Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corp.; General Electric Philippines Meter & Instrument, Co., Inc.; and PCCI Insurance Brokerage, Inc. Danny earned his BS in Commerce at Araullo Lyceum in Cabanatuan City and his MBA at De La Salle University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is affiliated with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

Carlos C. Torres

Carlos was nominated as a Fund director by Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG), the German aid organization. He is the President of Maginhawa Express Loans. Carlos sits on the boards of several private corporations and foundations. He was formerly Chairman and President of PDCP Development Bank, and was a Professor for many years at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and Far Eastern University. Carlos also served as Administrative Officer at the Program Implementation Agency of The Office of the President of the Philippines. Earlier, he held executive positions at Travelers Life Insurance Corp., Makati Insurance Corp., Philippine National Bank and Viltor Construction Company. Carlos trained for two years with the Chemical Bank & Trust Co., New York City. He earned his Bachelor’s degreein Business Administration at the University of the East and his MBA at New York University. |

Cielito F. Habito

Ciel is a Professor of Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University, where his also Director of the Ateneo Center for Economic Research and Development. He sits on the boards of Manila Water Corp., Metrobank Card Corp., Philsteel Holdings, WWF-Philippines, and other corporations and foundations. Ciel writes a regular column for the Philippine Daily Inquirer. For six years, he served in President Fidel V. Ramos’ cabinet as Secretary of Socioeconomic Planning and Director-General of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). Ciel has held various academic and government posts, including: Chairman of the University of the Philippines Los Baños’ Economics Department; research and teaching assignments at the World Bank, Harvard University, and Kyoto University; and NEDA Deputy Director-General during the Corazon C. Aquino administration.He has received numerous awards, including the Ten Outstanding Young Men award, and the Most Outstanding

Oscar S. Reyes

Oscar is a Director of several listed and unlisted companies, including: Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.; Bank of the Philippine Islands; Manila Water Co., Inc.;Universal Robina Corp.; D.M. Consunji, Inc.; Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc.; Level Up, Inc.; Chikka Holdings, Inc.; and Tower Club, Inc. He is also a Director of a number of Philippines-domiciled mutual funds managed by Sun Life of Canada. Previously, Oscar spent 21 years with the Shell group, most notably as a Director at Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp.; Managing Director of Shell Philippines Exploration B.V.; and Country Chairman for Shell Companies in the Philippines. Before this, he was connected with Philippine Petroleum Corp. for 15 years, ending in the position of Executive Vice President and General Manager. Oscar has been the United Nations National Ambassador for HIV-AIDS since 2003, and is a Trustee of El Nido Foundation, The Knowledge Institute, and Pilipinas Shell Foundation.
He is a member of the Makati Business Club, Management Association of the Philippines, Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines, Philippine-British Business Council, and other professional organizations. Rose Marie M. King

Rose is a Partner at SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan Law, where she specializes in investments, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, and general business law. She serves as corporate secretary for various corporations. From June 2003 through 2006, Rose was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), as well as a member of the IBP’s National Executive Committee. She is also country editor for several international legal publications. Rose obtained her law degree from the University of the Philippines, and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1989. |
